The answer we've all been seeking.

If you find yourself rebuilding the steering, you're better off just dropping one of these bad boys in. It was more difficult to get the old shaft on than it was putting this one in. Now the truck drives like a dream.

    1988-1994 CHEVROLET/GMC TRUCK STEERING SHAFT

I looked around for a steering shaft upgrade for my ‘96 Impala SS, and tried a few of the suggested that just didn’t work out. Then I happened to come across Cunningham Machine product and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. There was no guess work and it worked perfectly. Don’t hesitate if you’re looking to upgrade your steering shaft for your Impala SS. Great product and service!.

    Flawless install in a 1988 C1500

Really pleased with this steering shaft. U joints are smooth and there is no play in them whatsoever. The connections at the box and at the column were perfect and went on with no trouble. The allen screws with the locknuts were easy to negotiate with the space I had to work with. Solid build quality, you can see the attention to detail. I opted for the coated finish and I'm glad I did. I had really sloppy steering before this install.... about a 20 degree dead zone in the center. Now there's less than an inch of play in the wheel, and that's from the steering box/front end, not the shaft. Anyone wondering about "road feel" when switching from a rag joint to u joints...I don't find it rough at all. I can definitely sense the road more now, but in a good way. Most of my driving is on asphalt, however...not sure if long hours on gravel or concrete would be bothersome, but it seems like the tires and suspension are dampening enough. Finally, Cunningham shipped this out fast and it included a handwritten thank-you with an invitation to contact them with any issues. You can tell this is a customer-focused company of craftsmen, and as I work to keep my 36 year old Silverado running, I'm glad they're there as I move from one upgrade to the next. Proud to put their sticker on the back window.

    A Must-Have

Cunningham Machine makes a spectacular solution to a very unnecessary design flaw. How do you get an easily serviced, smooth, safe drive shaft? GM used a rubber disk, a solid half-shaft, a telescoping half-shaft, and a universal joint. This gave the OBS soft steering at best and dangerously sloppy steering at worst. The folks at CM did it with a telescopic shaft with two(2) universal joints, machined beautifully, and in my case, beautifully finished. The untrained eye wouldn’t know it from stock. The devil is in the details, though, and this truck now have tighter steering than its more modern cousins.

Fast delivery. Shaft and joints are heavy duty. I haven’t installed it yet. Waiting for the temperature to drop here in Arizona
